As a member, you'll receive regular updates on the happenings at our beautiful sanctuary, and be able to participate in our volunteer opportunities. You'll also have free access to our Education Program for Nature Interpreters, and be invited to participate in our special events such as the Christmas Luncheon, Open Houses, and our Annual General Meeting. Become a Nature

Interpreter

The Society’s environmental education programs are designed to help school-aged children explore their natural world. We offer several different on-site programs (see School Programs) primarily aimed at kindergarten to grade seven students, though secondary school classes visit occasionally. The programs are taught by volunteer nature interpreters. That’s where you come in. Morrell has a training program for those wishing to enhance their knowledge of the natural world and share it with the youth of Vancouver Island. Check in with our office and see if being a Nature Interpreter works for you.

Roll Up Your Sleeves

Ready to roll up your sleeves and make a tangible impact stewarding the land? Join our team of dedicated volunteers and get involved in trail maintenance, habitat restoration, invasive species removal, boardwalk building, and more. Your time and effort will directly contribute to the preservation and conservation of this precious natural space. As a volunteer, you'll be part of our close-knit community, working side by side with welcoming individuals who share your passion for nature. We meet every Thursday, rain or shine, from 9:20am to 12:00pm. You can come any Thursday your schedule permits, and choose from a range of tasks that meet your physical abilities – facility maintenance, all the way to getting your hands in the dirt. Coffee and snacks are served as a thank you at the Woods Room afterwards. No prior experience is necessary – just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to lend a hand.
