Are you a seasoned Nature Day Camp attendee looking for the next adventure? Consider joining our Junior Leadership Program!
Many of our campers return year after year and still have a passion for the great outdoors even as they surpass the age limit for regular campers. Our Junior Leaders play a vital role in the camp, acting as positive role models for younger children and sharing their "camp expertise." It's a fantastic opportunity for this age group to develop communication skills, build leadership qualities, and make a positive impact in the lives of younger campers.

Camp leaders come from a variety of backgrounds, who have experience working with school aged children. Leaders are university students between the ages of 19-34. Our camp leaders thrive on the joys and challenges of teaching about the amazing facets of nature through hands- on creative and fun activities.
Yes, at least one leader on-site must be trained in CPR and first aid.
Morrell Nature Sanctuary aims to accommodate all interested children. However, it is an extremely active camp with a large number of transitions and sensory changes throughout the day.
Children are expected to keep up and keep going. They must also be able to follow all directions, rules and expectations independently.
Children must participate well with others and follow safety rules without adult prompts.
Please call to discuss your child’s particular needs. If possible, be prepared to discuss any school service plans applicable to your child.
Camp will run rain or shine. Campers should dress for the weather and in clothes that can get dirty since we will be outdoors most of the time and occasionally use paint with craft activities.
Sturdy walking shoes are required and sandals are not recommended. Campers can also bring a hat, raincoat, sunscreen and bug repellent. Each child is responsible for their own belongings.
Please DO NOT send video games, cell phones or iPods, etc. These items are disruptive distractions and are not allowed at camp.
The Morrell Nature Sanctuary takes no responsibility for lost items. Any items we do find (including lunch boxes, shoes, hats, jackets, etc.) are put in lost and found until one month after the end of camp.
All campers must be toilet trained. When campers are at camp, they use the Woods Room bathrooms or outhouses. Please send a change of clothes in case of an accident.
All Morrell Summer Camp registrations begin May 1st of each year. Please scroll down to read our policies for more information.
Our camper to staff ratio is no more than 8 campers to one staff member. The number of campers is limited in order to ensure a fun, safe and memorable learning experience for all campers.
No. All camps are designed for the appropriate ages to allow them time to bond with kids of their own age.
The policy of Morrell Nature Sanctuary Summer Camps is to only give emergency, life-saving medications such as epi-pens or rescue inhalers. If your child has other medication needs, such as oral antihistamines and ointments, we ask you administer it before or after camp.
Please send your child with a snack, lunch and water bottle. Lunches cannot be refrigerated or microwaved. Children will be expected to carry their own lunch and water bottle, as we commonly hike to the lake to eat lunch. If your child has a special food allergy or condition, please note it on the camper registration form.
Note: We are not a nut-free site, however if your child has a nut allergy we will take the necessary precautions to ensure your child’s wellbeing.
Due to allergies and sensitivities of some children’s skin, we ask that you apply these things at home BEFORE arriving at camp. Your campers may bring their own to camp for application. Leaders will not reapply. Some children are sensitive to chemical scents so we ask that you don’t use heavily scented fabric softeners, shampoos, hand lotions or sunscreen.

All campers must follow these basic rules:
If needed, leaders will give a warning to the camper first, followed by a time out. If three time outs are given in one day, the parent or guardian will be contacted immediately and the camper will be asked to leave.
Children may not arrive before the start of camp and must be picked up promptly. This allows leaders time to prepare for and clean up after each day of camp. Doors open at 9:00am and you are required to remain with your child(ren) until the leaders open the camp each day. Your child will not be released by anyone other than a parent/ guardian listed on the registration form unless you notify leaders ahead of time. Children must be picked up by 3:00 PM. We understand unexpected circumstances may occur, however if you are late picking up your child more than 2 days there will be a late fee of $5.00 per child per day.
Please note: if your child is distressed, please stay with your child until they are settled. Thank you!
We must be made aware if your child has a severe allergy or medical condition that requires medication or special care. Please inform us and complete the severe allergy information form. This form must be filled out prior to the first day of camp. We will keep parents informed of any out of the ordinary occurrences.
